Journaling With Journey

Ah, once upon a time (if you’re like me- in the 90’s and if you're not- don't remind me of how old I am), we dreamt of jet packs and cars that could fly.

We didn’t really get that future we so desired, but I believe we have advanced in other colossal ways, mainly when it comes to mental health.

The world has widened its lens on how we address our approach to matters of the magnificent mind.

Stigmas are being shaken, resources are shared along with tips, therapy is no longer something you hide, people are telling their stories, and the list goes on.

What I’m most impressed with is how technology is playing its part in the revolution, particularly apps.

That’s where I must introduce to you: Journey.

The App

Now you all know that I am a journaling advocate- cue the pom-poms and fog horn.

(If you don’t, you can read my post about it here and discover why I’m so enamored with the process).

Journey is a diary/journal app that allows you to write out your thoughts with ease.

I truly would lug around notebooks and be terrified of losing one, but those days are long gone now that I have access at my fingertips.

(Password or fingerprint protected too, so you can keep the personal stuff on lock down).

Added bonus: I don’t have to wait to spill my guts, because like most of us, my phone is always with me.

Heck, you could journal at lunch, work, or sitting in traffic (if you’re a passenger, don’t get too dangerous) if you wanted!

Why I Dig It

I know the term, “journaling” or “diary” can be intimidating or off-putting to some, so here’s what else you can do:

  • brain dump (all of your thoughts/ideas/etc.)

  • reflect on your life/questions/problems

  • track your wins + accomplishments

  • write out your feelings during a difficult time (or an exciting time!)

If you’re new to journaling, don’t worry- there isn’t any difficulty to getting started and Journey guides you through the process step by step.

Some features I enjoy on the app are:

  • adding images or videos to my entry

  • mood tracker (super helpful for me)

  • a calendar that allows you to go back to previous entries (let’s see how far we’ve come, right?)

  • Journey Coach (my favorite feature)

Journey Coach Feature

This is one of Journey’s best components as it sets you up with a coach who provides you prompts on a daily or weekly basis.

You can find coaches who offer up prompts on everything from self care, relationships, to creativity.

I’m a guest coach this month, so I’ve built prompts to help ignite creativity through diving deeper, following intuition and using our imagination.

Personally, I’m going to try the relationship prompts soon because I love the idea of strengthening Andrew’s and I’s bond through journaling.

In lovely conclusion, I’d suggest you try Journey and see if it’s something that helps you grow and makes you feel good.

As always, I am here if you have any questions starting up your journaling journey- I’m no pro, but I know how to make it fun!
